Gathering of the Wise


Gathering of the Wise is an annual event hosted by Templum Vetus Deus quod Dea and Oak Forest Coven on or around Beltane to bring Pagans, Witches, and the Wica together in Northeast Georgia for companionship and celebration. Gathering of the Wise is open to all age groups, to all Traditions, and to all Pagan Paths. Discrimination will not be tolerated and anyone displaying such actions will be asked to leave. Gathering of the Wise will and should be a secure and compassionate event for all to attend.

Registration

Anyone wishing to attend Gathering of the Wise should contact Oak Forest Coven at oakforestcoven@wytchcraft.net or contact Vertius, the High Priest of Oak Forest Coven, at adamgray@wytchcraft.net or call 706-498-8820 between 12:00 – 5:00 pm. All attendees must complete a Waiver and Release of Liability Form before taking part in any event hosted by Oak Forest Coven at Gathering of the Wise.

Date and Time

Gathering of the Wise will be held from May 1, 2010 starting at 3:00 pm and lasting until 3:00 pm on May, 2, 2010.

Location

The location for Gathering of the Wise will be held in Canon, Georgia and directions to Gathering of the Wise will be sent to those who register with Oak Forest Coven.

Events

The events that will take place at Gathering of the Wise will be a public Beltane Ritual, the Dancing of the Maypole, Fire Walking, the Leaping of the Bonfire, Pagan Book Swap, and discussions on Paganism, Witchcraft, and Wica.

Traditional Usui Reiki Level One Attunement will also be offered to all attendees if they so wish. If you are interested or may be interested in receiving Usui Reiki Level One Attunement, please contact the High Priest of Oak Forest Coven using the email address or contact information above. There is no cost for this service and certification and lineage is provided. Information will be given after receiving Usui Reiki Level One Attunement to attendees that wish to obtain Usui Reiki Levels Two and Three (Master/Teacher Level) Attunements.

What to Bring

Anyone wishing to attend Gathering of the Wise should bring a blanket or chair to sit upon, a covered dish for the Potluck, a pagan book for the Pagan Book Swap, and comfortable clothing. If you wish to camp onsite, please bring a tent and all supplies that you may need during your stay.

What Not to Bring

We kindly ask that anyone wishing to attend Gathering of the Wise not to bring anything that is considered illegal, such as drugs.

Restroom and Facilities

A restroom is being constucted with a sink (Half-Bath) and should be finished before the Beltane Gathering.

Weather

The Weather is normally pleasant at this time of year with temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 80’s within the day and it is usually sunny. However, during the night temperatures can range from mid 60’s to mid 70’s and it is usually cold and damp. If it should rain upon the date of Gathering of the Wise, the gathering will be rescheduled to the following weekend of May 8 and May 9, 2009. If it should rain upon the rescheduled date, Gathering of the Wise will be cancelled.

Cost

There is no cost to attend Gathering of the Wise. However, we will be accepting donations for the cost of the gathering. We will also be accepting donations of canned and non-perishable foods for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
